Speaking of Hillsides.

Years ago I had the sales literature on a Harris Combine. I traded it for some other literature. Harris combines were made in California.

I didn't know until recently there is a difference between sidehill and hillside combines.

There is a Harris hillside combine at the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion. They drive it every year during the parades that are held daily during the Labor Day weekend. It appears to be fully operational.

They were the last of the independent combine builders in the Pacific Northwest. Also built the Power Horse tractor for a while in the early 50s.

Yep, that was patterned after a Case SP 9. That was a Case machine. I think the Case-Harris machine was a Harris 308. Where is the Case machine in your picture located?? Think the final drives on that machine were chain driven.

Didn't that goofy thing also have a hydraulic rear wheel assist? I think it was a model 302.

Old Bob,
I happen to be part owner of the Harris Hillside combine at the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion. It came from Creston WA and was last used in the field there they year after St. Helens eruption. The it came from the factory in Case colors but somewhere along the way it was painted back to Harris red. Owners manual has pics as both Harris and Case machines. It is in good working order but it has a canvas/wood slat conveyor that takes the grain from under the concave to the cleaning shoe that needs some TLC. They are after us to thrash with it in the hills next to the show on Saturdays. It is a blast to run for a flatlander I must say.
