JD 55 cylinder extension

On the 55 I have there are extentions on the lift cylinders. I read somewhere they are for use with the 313 corn head. I use them with the regular platform otherwise it does not lift very high. I am looking at buying another 55 this afternoon to put the corn head on. Does anyone remember reading anything obout the extentions? I would like to find another set for the second machine but now I can't find anything about them in the combine operator or parts book. I have even looked thru the book for the 313 corn head. Any suggestions?

The 45/313 I had did not need them.It had PLENTY of hieght. The 95/443
has a set.I used the 95 for a rear with out
them.Got by. Gives about 4" or so more length on the cylinder. They
are baisicly just a piece of pipe with one end
smashed and a hole on each end.You could eaisily
make something like that.Use the one on your other
combine as a pattern.

We use them for the 234 corn head on our
45, it shouldn"t be that to make a set or
have a welding shop make a set. To me it
seems like such a cheap design, our
cylinders and extensions don"t even have
rod ends.

The extensions were used for the 234 and 235 cornheads. You can call Bowie equipment in Tipton Ia at 563-886-6946.He has lots of 45-55-95-105 parts machines and is great to work with.

I know that they show the extensions when using a quick tach feederhouse.
My 55 has a feederhouse and it will not lift very high with a 343. I do not have the extensions.

I have the quick tach feeder house for the grain head. With out the extentions it will probably only come up a foot off the ground.

Reed, where are you located at. I am in the "Thumb of Michigan".

Lift height isnt a problem with a bean head. Corn head is were the problem is. It's only a foot or so off the ground.
This is how high the head lifts.
I'm south central MN, down by I-90.
