old masseys

Does anyone have good information on the Prototypes of the Massey-Harris 21 and the 27? My uncle had the first 21 galvanized and one of two first 27"s. My cousin still has the 27 galvanized.

I dont have any information on the early MH 21's or 27's but here are some pictures of them...Galvanized Massey combines are few and far between..

Do you have a current picture of your cousins galvanized 27..

Jimmie,

I don't have a answer for you on the serial number. Every older Massey Harris I own have the year in the serial number and most have the year on the engine serial also. I attached a picture of the serial number for my MH 21 and you can see it says twice it was built in 1949. I have two MH 27, MH 26 I will look tomorrow at the machines I own. Do me a huge favor save that machine as it is truly extremely rare combine. Do what ever it takes to not salvage it out. If I was guessing I would say early production in 1950 or 1951. Take a few more pictures of the right side drives near the engine might help me determine the year. Masseypride

Photo's of my two MH 27 it appears one in is a 1950 and other is 1951. The 953 has to be the model number for the MH 27 as it appears of both of my machines. I added a photo on the serial number of my MH26 its a 1949. The machine serial number might help you as I have pretty high number compared to your 11,832 serial number. The hood on the radiator makes me think its a 1949 or 1950. My 1949 MH 26 has the same hood. 1949 or 1950? Masseypride
