JD 55 hydraulic valves/levers

I am going to look at another 55 square back tomarrow. From what the owner said it does not have the levers on the left of the steering wheel for the reel speed and height. Would it be much of a job to take the valves and levers off a donor machine and add them? Does anyone know if the parts from a 95 would be the same? Thanka alot for your help.

I tried that site before and could not get it to work, but it worked today. It turns out 55,95 and 105 are all the same. Now its a matter of how much work and finding parts if need be.

Ummm, what platform are you going to use?

The 55s etc used a different system for reel speed
than say a 6600 or newer. While the newer ones
had a hydraulic motor to control the reel speed,
the 55s used a mechanical drive, and all the lever
did was actuate a hydraulic cylinder that changed
a variable speed belt.

Long story short, the valve is not set up to run a
hydraulic reel in the modern sense... that can be
done, but it takes non factory plumbing. Been
there on a 105.

I have the old style head made for the machine. Been using it for several years but found what seems like a decent deal on another machine. I will know more by tomarrow night.
