Windrow Special?

I've seen that designation on other makes as well. I believe there was a Massey 510 and maybe one of the Gleaner L series as well. The only thing I can think of is they came with a 13-ft header and pickup attachment as standard equipment. Some windrow combines also lacked the reel-lift hydraulics. Other than that, I can't think of any other differences.

The windrow specials had a beater installed between the top of the feederhouse and the cylinder and a stone trap beneath it.

The whole unit moved the feederhouse ahead the better part of a foot.

I'm sure the beater was mostly to smooth out/tear apart the windrow ahead of the cylinder, and, also to "smack" stones downward out of the material stream, into the rocktrap.

o will it adversely affect its performance straight cutting? No pickup head right now, though I do plan on getting set up to straight cut and swath down the road, as we do both up here depending on weather.

We had a couple of 503 Windrow Specials and they worked just fine "straighting", as well.
