JD 920 flex platforms

Got a question for everyone. What is the advantage(s) if any of going from a late 920 flex non-fullfingered auger platform to a 920F flex fullfingered auger platform? Thank you to all who reply, your answers will be appreciated. John

I have a 920F and it feeds very well in all conditions. You will find it grabs the crop more evenly in tougher conditions than a smooth auger will. I went from a 220 to this platform and the difference is very noticeable. The platform I have was a year old when I got it and the cross auger was set way too high. I moved it down where it needed to be and now it acts like it should. I run the cross auger somewhere between 3/8" and 1/2" from the flighting to the floor and as close to the rear stripper as possible without rubbing. While the regular 920 head is a good head the F head will let you run a little longer in the day or keep moving in tougher conditions. In dry, good cutting beans the difference is still noticeable due to the more even feeding which is one of the main things you want when you are combining. Mike

Mike, Thanks for your insight. I'm going to upgrade from my 915 to a 920 full finger by fall. Make my late 9400 more efficient. John
