This morning I attended a funeral in Neosho,MO..The long
time president of our tractor pulling association (Spring
River Pullers} passed away last week..Norman will sure be
missed..He and his family had run the pulling sled
forever...I've pulled off and on with this group since 1971..
His sons and brothers say this is their last season so
finding someone to replace them will be nearly impossible
to do..For many years his brother Don has used his 886 IH
to blade the track and has probably put 1000 hours on it
doing that..They also bring the scale, electronic scoreboard,
and the entry trailer..Heres a picture of my Oliver 1950
pulling the Spring River sled at Carthage,MO about 7 years
ago....
Anyways,about 3 weeks ago I saw a 403 IH combine sitting
beside Hwy 43 near abundant,MO..On the way home today I
circled by and talked to the owner....He had bought it out
of a neighbors shed 2 years ago and had planned to use it
but never did..
its a 1966 belt drive gas burner..He drove it to where it sits
and its in decent shape....The belts and cylinder bars are
pretty good..It has 4 row narrow 429WN corn head thats
very useable..The 18.4x26 rice tires are poor..
Theres a grain platform at the farm where he bought it but
he says it isnt very good...The price is $1,000...I'd love to
have it but have no shed space available..
