jd straw chopper

I am looking to put a straw chopper on my jd 4400. It just has a spreader. Will a chopper off a say 6600 or 6620 fit a 4400? Also do I need a differnt belt than the one off the speader. Can you run both at the same time? Thanks guys for your help.

Chopper off a 66XX will be to wide and won't work. You need one off a 4400 or 4420. A chopper drives off the opposite side that the spreader drives from so you will need the drive system and the two belts for the straw chopper. You cannot have a chopper and spreader on the machine at the same time as they bolt on the same place on the rear of the combine.

Where are you located? I have a chopper I took off my old 4400 that I used to have several years ago. Would sell reasonably. I am in northeast Missouri. Mike

I am in Minnesota. It would be a good road trip for me this summer. I will check around locally and if I can't find anything I would certainly be interested. Is there any way to reach you via say email. Mine is open

Jacob do you have the drive pulley that attaches to the combine as well? Is there any way I can get a hold of you. Just curious how much you are asking for the chopper and belt.

saw the ? about the straw chopper and have another ? why can I not keep the belt on? the belt started coming off every mile or so last yr and I then replaced the belt because it looked worn but it still will not stay on very long , all the bearings look good and pulleys are straight , I even cobbled up a extra pulley to keep the belt from bouncing , but nothing seems to work , it will stay on all the time when im standing there watching it, this is becoming a pain when I last combined corn,, oh this is on a 7720, thanks for replies
