The pictures with the F2 Gleaner were taken around Christmas 1985 when it had gotten down to 5 above..I was breaking thru but never got stuck..

The pictures with the 6620 JD were in early January 1986 when it got down to 0..It was staying on top...

Getting the beans down our wonderful township road when it thawed out some was sure fun..

I remember the winter of 86-87 well. Trying to get 80A. of late planted beans combined on plowed ground. Never froze enough all winter to get the job done. Got up at 3:00 lots of morning's, but never could go. We even tried combine with floater tires and mud hog on rear, but still couldn't get to all of them. It was custom work and the ground was sold that spring with what was left of the beans. Probably 3/4 were flat on the ground. Not plowing as much has helped that problem to some extent.

(quoted from post at 04:59:44 01/11/14) That sort of problem went away a few years after we parked the plows here.
I agree, these new combines would get stuck too,if they were on plowed ground. a neighbor put a new mud hog on his 815. he said he got 150 feet farther than before. we had to run tracks but it was so slow. they would freeze solid at night, but it wouldn't be enough to freeze the ground.and you had to load and haul it to different fields.wish I could find some pics, but I don't think we took many. like someone said we wanted to forget.

Same here except I did get stuck during wheat harvest 2007..Its rare to hear of a combine getting stuck around my area..

We have been like that this year and our combine spent a lot of days in the mud. Had to combine corn at 7 mph to keep from dropping into the mud.
I use a JD 6620 with a mud hog rear and it still was tough going. Corn head I use is a 4 row and that helped because it didn't plug as a 6 row might have at that speed.
