Yesterday I and two friends made a trip to SE Kansas to pick up a 55 Massey-Harris diesel tractor that I'd seen on Craigslist...My friend bought it and his trailer isnt heavy enough,so I hauled it 125 miles home for him..It was a beautiful sunny 55 degree day...We havent had many of those lately..

While there we looked at a Super 26 Massey combine that the guy in SE Kansas had bought on a farm sale..It had been modified to fight the mud...Check out the mud paddles and big rear tires...This combine can be bought for $500..

Those paddles look like what the seed corn guys use to chop up the male rows after pollination.

I see the drive tires are on backwards. Dad told me they did that back in those days so that the combine could usually back out of the mudhole.

Ralph, the drive chains had been cut off to move it plus the ladder to the operators platform is gone...Of course the reel fell apart..Other than that it looked complete..It was pretty straight..

Later today I'll send you the information on the owner..Its located about 65 miles north of Bartlesville,OK..

No solid main frame under that machine; looks like it could be easily damaged if it got stuck real bad and took a lot of pulling to get it out.

I'll bet whoever did that was a WW2 vet who adapted the mud shoe idea from Jeeps.
American innovation at its best!
