JD 9600 hydrulic issues

we have not long brought this combine and have two issues with it. The reel lift has decided it will only go up which ever way the button is pushed and wont come down at all on the 2nd day of use and the cylinder speed will not adjust up or down either looking at it now we are finished it looks like both these work off the same hyd block in the bank on the left hand side 3rd one in from the outside being both single action. Front one for reel lift back for cylinder speed. Has any one else had problems like this and wheres the best place to start looking. 1st jd ive run done a lot on 21/2388s but we wonted a conventional to save straw for baling. Thanks for any help
 
Many times the small check valve springs or the plastic checks themselves will fall apart inside the valve causing trouble, I would remove the fittings and just take a look. You can find the parts breakdown on jdparts.com

It sounds as though either your unloading auger swing is not set in the center position or the main solenoid is sticking open. There is one solenoid that is used for everything and if it sticks you have the symptoms you describe. A simple service check will tell you. Mike
 
Thanks everyone Mike you got it auger swing has to be centered everything works then. Ive always left the case ih switch on the in position as they cut out with the limit switch but looking at the jd today it keeps pumping
 
The unloader swing does have a limit switch on it that stops flow when the auger is in. However, there are two solenoids that are in use with most functions. When the auger switch is not centered the main activating solenoid is still open which pressures the remaining functions that use this same solenoid. This is what causes your symptoms. You won't notice it with a corn head but you sure do with a platform with the light load hydraulic functions on it. Mike
