Want to replace the Tailings, Clean Grain & Feeder House Chains on the 7720 this Winter, also the Cyl. Bars & Concave. Aftermarket is cheaper than Deere, but dealer can't tell me whether the Genuine Deere chain is USA. I'd pay more for USA. Is the Genuine Deere worth the extra $$$?

John i got new clean grain chain from A&I last fall it was made in Canada Deere owns A&I so your dealer may just get the parts from them and tell you they are JD parts

Kent: I've heard of Deere dealers doing just that, but I trust this parts man. He told me I can save w/ A&I parts, after he priced Genuine Deere to me. I want to know if the Deere parts are better quality, AKA USA.

Check out Shoup Manufacturing. All of their chains are Drives brand, made in the USA. My Deere dealer sells Drives brand chain at a 50% premium over Shoup. Drives now makes most of Deeres chain for them.

I put a set of hard A&I bars on my MF this summer. They took a couple rocks this fall like a champ. Were made in Canada.

I would pass on A&I chains, I bought a couple gathering chains from them out of curiosity, and they were Chinese(combine ate one, didn't hurt the bars/concave).

For chains I would go Shoup.

Manchester Manufactureing,Manchester OK.Sells/manufactures new combine chains.Small town USA. Check em out.

most generally you can't get any poorer quality than a&i,their belts are made of recycled bubble gum, Shoup has good chain, jd is sourcing alot parts like bearings from china

a lot of people are genuine parts only,if they feel that they are getting quality replacement by buying oem only they are being fooled right out of there money, i.e. if it's a national seal that's all it is regardless of price or whose package it's in.

On the farm where I work part-time, we run a well seasoned John Deere 9600. We replaced a bunch of chains on it this summer.

Boss said he asked one of the combine techs at one of the dealerships about the different grades of chain. He said the tech told him to use the cheaper chain, and change it more often.

That must be another idea they stole from case

at least they know where to go for their ideas, no company has stolen more technology and ideas than jd, their sts combine is a good example but it wont produce the grain quality that an axial flow will

John, I haven't looked at the Case site for several months. Some people get offended by the truth and I figured I wore my welcome out! I will be sure to call you when I need parts. I am trying to finish the new shop up and then I can get some tractors in to work on.

I hear you. You & I have had differing opinions once in a while, but always looked forward to your posts. Couple guys over there right now nipping me in the a$$.

Sickening, isn't it? CASE wasn't like that until them New Holland flunkies took the place of the CASE retiree's.

The worse part is I replaced the bearings about 5 years ago and they were timken they only reason I replaced em again was because it take to different sizes and the dealer only had two of the one size so I had to weld one to the shaft
