IH 844 vs 843 corn head

The 843 is the 30" head...The 844 is the 40" head..I've owned (3) different 843's..

I am looking at , what is it labeled as, an 844, but, it is actually 4 30" rows. could the 844 be modified to 30"

Yes, nearly anything can be done with either enough money and/or patience, but sure a lot of work and not sure it is worth the effort.

I bought a 715 combine that had an 844 head that had been narrowed to fit 30" rows. works well, no idea on how long it took to modify.

Pretty easy to make a Ih 844 into a 5 row 30 inch head. Just of matter of readjusting the tin work and adding one row unit. Hard part is the snouts. Have to cut and narrow them up. 4 Row wide makes a 5 row narrow.

Ok, this head IS a 844, BUT it IS set on 30" rows, already. So , by design , it is mechanically the same as an 843?
