IHC 715 Grain Pan

Been having fun reading about all the fun everyone had running combines this year, brings back many memories of the old CII Gleaner. Anyway, my 715 didn't strand me this year, BUT, there would appear to be a hole or two in my grain pan. The manual describes the removal of the grain pan in about two short paragraphs. My question, has anyone ever done it and if so, is it a huge job?
 
It should be the same as a 403 or 151 before that. The 151 had a weak grain pan that would break and we replaced them with new 403 pans. First pull the sieves and then take the hanger arms off of the sides (2 on each side) and pull the shaft that goes through the pitman drive arms and the bracket on the pan. Take 3 bolts out of each side of the drive bracket and the pan will come straight back. We used to take them out in an hour, but then we had changed several.

The three bolts are the toughest because you can't get to them. Be sure to check the drive shaft (push-pull) where the bushings on the bracket go. It will wear there and knock after awhile. They finally changed the setup on the 815 and 915 but I think the 715 stayed about the same. Of course that was 40 years ago and I sometimes don't remember quit right. I do still itch just thinking of working in and under those machines!
 
It also helps if you have the header off, so you can get to the front of the pan easier. Slide a couple of long boards or planks in the front, under the pan, all the way back to the return cross auger. This will keep the pan from falling down and will also make it a lot easier to put back in. While the pan is out crawl in on the planks to check or adjust the front bushings on the straw walkers. After I did that, and new bushings in the pan hangers, the machine sounded like a new one!!! Guess I"ll keep it another 40 years!!
