update on my combine driver

Thanks guys for all the thoughts and prayers for my father. He made it through the heart cath fine with suprisingly little blockage detected. The doc is going to continue to treat him with medication to improve his heart function and he is being released from the hospital as I type this. Our biggest problem now will be trying to get him to what the doc has told him(he can be stubborn as a mule). He is breathing much better and believe it or not the respitory doc said his lungs are still in good condition considering his smoking. He will supposedly be on no restrictions when he gets home and can do pretty much whatever his body will let him do(Including running a combine). Thanks again for the prayers and thoughts.

Glad to hear he is doing so good, I know its a load off your mind now that he is coming home. Now you can climb back in the cab and run that Ford in a better frame of mind. Good luck with the harvest and you and yours are in our prayers. Bandit

Bob, sorry but I dont think there will be one wonder drug. They now have him on blood thinner and pills to get rid of the fluid buildup around his heart.Several things led up to the emergency room visit but it all boils down to the early stages of congestive heart failure.Pneumonia also was causing some of his breathing problems.

Thanks for the update. Glad to hear he is doing better. I always enjoy seeing your posts with the combine pictures in them. I am hoping to see more soon.

Haley I know its a hard talk and these guys are stubborn as mules but please try and get him to give up smoking. My grandpa quit cold turkey in 1999 after 55 years after his 2nd stroke. We found him March of 2000 in his bed. Heart attack, he was only 70. Wish he was here today. Glad your dad is on the mend.

Wow... This is really strange.

about a month ago, Nov 3rd, I thought I was having a heart attack. I had every symptom of a heart attack. Then I started throwing up and after, I felt 100% fine the next day. The next day, my father (71 years old) started complaining of shortness of breath. He already had an episode of Atrial Fibrillation in 2010 and has been on Cumadin(Warfarin) and tikosyn ever since. He had fluid build up in his chest at that time. This time, he put off going to the doctor for a few days. When he finally went, they gave him a water pill and he started feeling better. A few days later, the hospital called and told him to get to the emergency room immediately. His test results were bad. He felt fine though.

They kept him for a while, did a heart cath on him and found not a single bit of plaque or anything. They said it was viral. They shocked him back into rhythm and sent him home the next day.

Something is definitely going around that is viral and causing these problems.

Very weird timing. It seems like he is almost in the same boat as your dad.

Hope everything goes well.
