Hauling a MF 35

For those of you that have hauled a 35 MF combine (self propelled) on a trailer, is it better to drive it on or back it on? Trailer is 18' long, like a car hauler trailer.

thanks,
Al

Drive it on.you need to have 60% of wt on the tounge. The combine wt is at the front.Last year we hauled (60 miles) a JD 105 (minus head) loaded backwards. Was as far a head as possible toward front.30 mph was as fast as we could travel as it would sway/weave any faster.

Thanks again gentlemen! One more question, more curiosity than anything, how do they ride once they're up there? I am thinking lots more wind resistance than a tractor....

The lower you can keep a combine, the better they haul..Get one up at 13'6" tall and they pull real hard..They only haul easy with a 30 mph wind behind them.....

I like the idea of getting it on my "car hauler" trailer. Since the trailer has a fairly low deck I am thinking it wouldn't be too bad. I bet it would be a different story on a deck-over trailer.

1206, how do you get a wind behind you anyway? LOL When I hauled combines it seems like I always had a headwind. The worst was a R62 Gleaner. I swear it created it's own headwind. Jim

When I move my 35 I back it on my 16' trailer, and with it all the way to the front the straw hood is about to my tailgate on my truck and the head is about 6-8" in from the back lip. Hauled mine and 2 others several states and thousands of miles this way behind my K2500 Chevy. Never had it fight me or cause my truck to suck gas.
