I have been having trouble all afternoon with my
820 pushing and digging dirt. Will tightening the
counter balancing springs help this ? I'm open to
any ideas or help Thanks you.

make sure the rods are moving freely inside the tubes, inside the springs. hope that makes sense. I don't know how else to explain it.

Yes that makes sense this head has been sitting
several years. I'm running it on a 715 have you
ever had reason to change I guess you would call it
the pitch on the head there are bolts you could
change at the top of the quick attach. Thanks

you might be running on the gaurds instead of the skid plates.tilt of the feeder house has a lot to do with tire size front and back. we had a lot of trouble in our late beans with 820 heads, I think the ground was to loose. it hadn't rained a lot hear from early july till now. I have a friend running a 1020 head having trouble to. no brand likes the wet ground.

I know this sounds like a no brainer but I was having trouble with my 1020. Then noticed when I had it on a level slab that one side was lower than the other. Leveled it and majic happened no more trouble.

If the cutterbar is digging then tipping the face plate of the feeder house back towards combine may help. If the skid plates are pushing dirt tighten the springs on the back of the head so that when the head is up you can bounce the bar with your finger tips. Then run the head towards the upper range of it's float travel. This will give you the lightest ground pressure. Cutting beans on muddy ground sucks. Sometimes running diagonaly across the rows helps also. Good luck.

Everyone had trouble this fall because of loose, soft, wet ground. No matter what color. I had real good luck with my 1020 by running it at the top of it's travel range.

Thanks for the help. I moved the face plate of the feeder house one hole back that seemed to for the most part take care of the problem. Thanks again !
