has any one modified a 13 foot bean head from a 55 JD to fit a JD 4400 combine? I'm thinking this might be doable. Thans for you're thoughts.

I think it's doable but would take some thinking for it to work. I've look at a 55 with a grain but don't remember how it drives off the throat/feeder house

You can just about do any thing you put the effort in to. I picked up my 13ft ridged head with floating cutter bar up at a auction for $200 for my 4400. I don't know what all you would need to faberacate but you can't do much work for that kind of money.

I have just started looking for a grain head...so far everyone seems to be 'Very Proud' and the price reflects this. "Still looking".
