Corn chopping problem

I am chopping corn with a Heston 7155 and got delayed due to harvest and weather. The corn is tall, thick and on the dry side. I am haveing problems with plugging the discharge tube. The fan belt is tight, blower blades and tolerance is good. Pulling it with a 4450 JD so power is ok. Any suggestions or tips on this problem?

Have you noticed that it is worse at a particular time of day? Sounds to me like it is a little dry and slowing down. Needs a little more moisture to give it weight to keep moving.

Our old Ih chopper was doing that and turned out there is a slip clutch that was slipping. Blower was slowing down under load.

Be sure that the air inlet, usually under the chopping cylinder, is open. It can get plugged with wet stuff early in the season or just get filled up. No air, no blow. Also check that there is not a piece of loose tin hanging in the discharge or the blower paddles are not worn out. A patch put in the chute can get worn and cause problems. I have dry chopped hay and alfalfa with no problems other than what I stated, if the drive belts are tight and running the right speed. Choppers can be a lot of fun, if it isn't one thing worn out something else is. Good luck.

I'd look at the spout first. Any rough spots in the liner? Paddles ok? They should be spaced to leave a dime, but pick up a nickel. Is your length of cut OK?

Spout is good, we just adjusted the paddle clearance today, made no difference Belt is tight as can be, Thinking it may be slipping going to try to get a new one tomorrow. Air intake is open, we don't have the grain pans on was snowing today so corn was wetter when we tried it after adjusting blower paddles. I dunno. We've never has this trouble before. Can't seem to figure out what's wrong

there is a liner inside the spout. if there is the slightest hole or rough spot in it that's how it will act and that's your prob.

Yes that was the problem. Dropped a camera down the spout and there was a tear about the size of my hand. Removed the liner and we were back to chopping. Thanks all for your help and comments
