I need to remove the clutch shaft so I can machine it. The inner moving shiv was not properly lubricated and wore the shaft down. I have tge clutch housing out and the clutch and driven shivs off. The flywheel is still on. To me it apears that the shaft should come out the flywheel end of the housing. I put it in ththe press and put some light pressure on it but nothing has moved and i dont want to go crazy with trying to press on it if im doing it wrong. I cant see nehind the the flywheel and ot looks like i have to have the shaft out to presd the flywheel off or devise some sort of puller to pull it off with it still in the housing.

It has been 30 years but I think I remember bouncing the assembly as you have it shaft down on a good piece of oak wood. The big coil spring would have held the shaft tight against the bearing behind the flywheel, so it must go out the way you are doing

Yep. Thats the way it came out. The shaft is a snug fit in the bearings and they just wanted to hold on.
