65 Pull Type

Just had to re-post this pic here. A friend sent me this shot of his first combine and tractor back in 73. A John Deere 3020 tractor and model 65 pull type combine. A good combination but even better when he upgraded to a 4020 with cab.

A neighbor came over with his 65 combine to help us combine. We were running our old G3 MM combine with chain drive at the time - and it could outdo the belt drive 65. There were quite a few 65's sold in our area though.
 
My family ran a 65 for years on a 48 A. As a kid, my Grandfather let me ride in the grain tank while combining oats! What a thrill that was! When I was older, I learned very quickly what a pain it was to dump in the old 54 chevy truck "on the run" with that! I got scolded many times for "bumping" the rear tire on the old A
