What is a Deere EB?

I found a 105EB combine and wonder what the EB means.I thought they had a spike tooth cyclinder but this one has a 435 cornhead so it can"t have a spike tooth. What features do they have?I have two 95"s that are both corn specials and am looking for a good 105 as the 95 is a little small for 4 rows of 200bu corn.I have also thought about changing to narrow rows(six row planter) and getting a three row for 95.They holdup is that a six row 7200 planter with notill is $12,000+.

EB = Edible/eatable Bean. They are more 'adapted' to beans. Some have cylinder slowdown kits,'buckets instead of paddles on elevators, screens to get rid of dirt(pinto beans),etc. The can easily be adapted to corn/small grain.Sounds like yours has been.I once had a 105R(rice) that was "converted" to small grain,it would also do corn. Many of the options for the EB are the SAME as the corn special. Long tooth chaffer, screens on augers, etc. Some also had the features Delta mentioned, but many have the same stuff as a corn special.

The EB's don't have a variable speed cylinder like the Corn Specials. I have a 55EB, its set up like a standard machine with rasp bar cylinder.

The variable speed cylinder was an option on all of them I think. Out here in MT, there are a few 105s with that option and they aren't corn specials either.

Tom,
Don't think just because it has a corn head that it doesn't have a spike tooth cylinder in it. I have shelled a lot of corn with a spike tooth cylinder and it works great if the corn is dry enough. I would say about 22% is about the max else the spike will grind the corn too much. Dryer than that it will do a fine job of shelling corn. You need to take every other tooth out of the bottom two rows of spikes in the concave.
