L Gleaner hydro oil and filter?

I bought the L. He said I best change the hydro oil and filter before harvest. I don"t have it home yet still working on getting someone to trailer it and also looking for a header trailer. Anyhow Is there anything I should know when changing the hydro oil and filter?? Any specific oil? I will go to Agco for the filter should I get Agco oil? I want to do all I can take care of it. Might be leasing 120 more acres next summer that is 30 miles from home base. Also... How do you grease the walker bearing blocks?... The question come to be a bit later....?? I should be more clear. I do know how to grease them, at least fair enough. But how do you get to them??

If I remember correctly, hydraulics took Dexron auto tranny fluid, just use a good brand, would use the Agco filter, believe yours will have the filter in the resivior, don't twist those little studs off. I never greased the blocks on my M.

Dextron oil and don't grease the wooden walker boxings. They are oil impregnated and if greased will attract dirt and rapidly wear the crank.

Okay thanks for the info. I am looking everywhere I know of for a header trailer to at least borrow and I cannot find a thing. Might be able to get the machine home next week sometime. A good 60 miles away.

Dextron oil. You can get a very good filter from any Baldwin filter supplier. As to Grease on walker block I highly recomend greasing them daily. I adapted my G over to greasable blocks and you just can't imagine the heat that is generated by dry blocks. Grease them daily and they will last forever.

Baldwin filters may save you a few bucks, but use the OEM filters. Cut a Baldwin and OEM filter in 2 and check how much filter membrane is in each, I've seen applications that the OEM's had 1/3-1/2 more, and that's extra filtering. Got rid of my M when it had over 3,000 separator hrs, walker blocks were origonal and tight, can't see where greasing will improve.

60 mile trip is less than 4 hours if you drive the combine and header. When I bought my 15 foot flex head for the M2, the PO drove over the edge of the road....I had the trailer parked parallel in the road ditch, and he set it on.

I have thought about it. And if I have to I will. Might have to go slower for a while until I get used to it. It will take a long time to learn how to run this thing and set it. That little A I feel like I am part of and have the feel for it in wheat. I can now see what dad meant when he said you cannot hear things with a cab. That cab is so Nice. I am not used to something this modern.

Went from a C-2 to a M-2, different controls is about the only learning curve, basic combine settings are similar. The biggest thing is set the header so it feeds evenly, that's 3/4 of the battle. The moniter system will give you the feel that the cab loses. I run an R-62 now, from the M to the 62 was a all new learning curve, forget lot's of what you knew and start over.
