Gleaner L M questions

What all relies on electric controls on these? I understand they use solenoids use a toggle switch for the header lift ect. What about the seperator clutch and unloader auger? Also if I understand they come with hyrdo and gear drive. So the hydro traction drive is the same as my old A with variable speed?

All hyd controls are electric over hyd. Rocker switches send current to the solenoids on each hyd valve, rather than a mechanical linkage. Seperator clutch is electric. Unloading auger belt is tightened by hyd cyl. Hydro drive is not a gear drive......hydro has multiple gear ranges with infinite fwd/reverse speeds and instant change of direction in each range.

Th only things controlled with mechanical linkage are throttle and hydro-traction drive (if equipped).
everything else is electric over hydraulic. If has a variable speed, then it is electric over hydraulic. We had an M, M2, and M3 and never experienced troubles with the electrical. They work well.

Thanks for the responses. That is what I was thinking on the controls. Parts are readily available fast also in my area. From what I understand most want the hydro. I can see how they are nice because you can go as slow as you need to.

Straight M/L's and early 2 series had mechanical engage unloading auger, unfolding swing out was electric over hydraulic.
