i am looking for pictures and or a flex head itself to combine beans with my 1160. any pictures or explanation of modifying a regular rigid head would be great. i am willing to travel to mid west from NY to get one.

Heres an 800 Case cutting beans at Rantoul,Illinois in Aug
2011..It had an add on bean bar..

It's important to note that a flex head and a floating cutter bar, typical for that machine back in the day, are not the same. Flex head is the latest technology that shaves the ground.

Give casecollectorsc or casenutty over on the case forum a holler if they don't check in here.

Casecollectorsc has a JD head on a case machine.
Others have used a lovebar attachment or just used a rigid head with an auto height attachment.

Hart-Carter was a after market company that built floating cutterbars for combine heads. Probably hard to find now. I have a 22 1/2' Hart-Carter on a JD 100 series head that I run on 1660 or 1665 Case machines. If you don't have many to combine a straight head will work although not as good as a FCB.
