Thats amazing. I thought I had some hilly ground here in Indiana. Say they no-till now, what would a guy like that have done back 50 yrs ago? Burn the field off? Then I wonder what they did originally when it was put into production, at some point it had to be moldboard plowed, seems like it would all have gone down hill.
 
Unreal! I would never be able to keep the combine in a straight path because I would spend too much time taking in the view instead of paying attention to the header.In my opinion thats wanting to grow grain REALLY bad if you have to put it on hills that big.Anybody else got more hillside harvesting pics?
 
i worked for a guy in England years ago (mid 90s) and he had a hillside Laverda (now part of New Holland) all hi tech, self leveling side to side and front to rear, anyway, we were combining a side hill and the bottom step of the ladder was over 5 feet in the air... these hillside machines are amazing...
 
Back 40 years ago they plowed most of it using crawler tractors..They dont get much heavy rain there..

I have quite a few hillside combine pictures..In 2001 I was in the Palouse area of Oregon,Washington,and Idaho..Its awesome to see..They raise some great wheat..
 
1206 is rite about the Palouse area. Not a lot of heavy rains along with a limited amout of rainfall.
I was in the Palouse in the 1950 s at harvest time. Got to drive a John Deere 55 that was a manual leveling machine. Had a hyd. valve rite by my rite hand and a little bubble level taped to the pipe railing. Was no prob to keep it level.
Was very lucky to run a International TD 14 with 2, 3 or 4 bottom plows hooked onto it. Both trip rope lift. Very different plowing with a crawler on those hillsides, like about 45 degree slope!. Sure was a thrill for this farm kid from the Ill. flat lands! clint
