Gleaner m diesel engine

Looking at a Gleaner M2 diesel engine. I like how the entire unit comes out together. Looking to use one on an irrigation pump. Says it should be about 120hp. Anything good, bad or indifferent on this engine that I need to look for?

I know a guy that actually runs one as the complete combine power unit mated to a 550gpm Berkeley pump with a driveshaft and it has been TOUGH as nails for him.Gives great service with hardly any problems. A.C.built one of the toughest Diesels you will ever find in my opinion.

Hi mike hope you found your parts, we have had very good luck with 6-354 perkins motors in this setup. We make sure to enclose the back side of the fan shroud with heavy screen to keep out rodents.fuel consumtion is about 2 qt lessper hrJames.

The one I am looking at is on a auction in the area but it is listed as a parts engine. It has a miss to it. That's all they basically will tell me. Looks like the fuel transfer pump has been removed along with the air filter. Just wondering if it goes cheap enough, would it be worthwhile. I also have a 354 from a combine also but they didn't give me the complete setup. Thought I might put this one in one of my tired Olivers.

Just wondering if these are a good investment and what a good complete setup would run. Found one with a miss in it but instead of repairing it, it is at one of those closeout auctions.

I wouldnt put a whole lot in it like that.I had a friend reciently that had a good running complete combine repossesed from him and it went for scrap. The lienholder could not even get a bid on it other than for scrap(brought around $1500 with a head)and it ran like a top.If you have to buy many parts from AGCO you will regret buying it.

Funny you mention the cost of agco parts. That and the service the provide was the reason I bought a used green baler instead of a new agco baler. If I have my may I won't ever own another agco product.

i have a nice 6cyl. motor off a gleaner f,, if you miss that one at auction , ,,been watching for a 190 ac to put it in , ,, i am in louisville ky area if i can help you ,. or if someone can help me find a 190 ac tractor

Erick, Funny you mentioned that you dont plan on owning another Agco product. I feel that way about Deere. I find the parts arent any cheaper and all of the green stores in NE Iowa are owned by one guy forcing out the little guys. I know this is a sign of the times, but Im a small operator and I like small buisnesses. Of course I am biased because I work at a Agco/New Holland dealer also!
Take my advise, if you have a good dealer close to you buy a New Holland baler. Your bale and net wrap quality will be second to none.
Jim

How about a 200, heck you even know the way down here Mr. Jim. Motor in the tractor siezed the number 4 main big time, either i need to donate a motor or let someone else get a decent deal.
