JD Seller - ?? Deere 4420 brakes

Got the wheel cylinders off and disassembled. Bought the cylinder kits. I guess I thought while I was underneath the combine I might as well go ahead and look inside the brake. Doesn't look to be that complicated - take drive shaft out, take out the three bolts, pull brake cover off. That way I can check to see if there are broken springs or badly worn brake disks. Any suggestions??? ALSO, will the operator's side brake housing come off OK due to the location of the transmission/clutch/lower driver pully? Someone in the archives said it wouldn't. Looks to me like there might be enough clearance. Thanks to all of you who have given suggestions.

It has been years since I worked on the brakes on a JD 4420. There where very few around here. I don't remember them being that hard to work on.

I would bet that you need to just pull the left transmission output shaft out of the transmission to be able to drop the brake assembly down rather than taking the brakes off the end of the shaft. That is how the left brakes are on the JD 6600 and 6620s.

Looking at it yesterday I do think the brake housing will come off without much problem especially if the output shaft is pulled out and the housing just drops downward. Thanks.
