John Deere 4420 brakes - repair procedures

Getting tired of adding brake fluid. Seems to be needing it daily rather than yearly. I just know that YT is the place to find the BEST step by step procedures and tips to fix things. I need to do both brake cylinders and possibly the shoes while I am there. Does anyone have the "removal and repair" steps for the John Deere 4420 combine? Thank you.
 
I think I heard one time that the brakes on those are very similar to some of the ford brakes. Maybe someone knowledgeable in that area could help? We have a 4420 too but have not had to work on the brakes yet. Have you checked in the tech manual for the procedure?
 
The JD 4420 combine does not have shoes. They use the brake setup like the older combines.

To work on just the slave cylinders #23 you do not have to go into disk/brake area. The slave cylinder sets under the transmission out put shafts. It pushes against a lever #19 that pulls the actuator rod # 11 down to work the brakes.

The nice thing about them is that if they leak fluid it does not get on the brake disks. The bad thing is that the disks do not stop as well as a shoe setup. They take a little more maintenance.

Lon, what you heard applies to the larger combines in that series. They use brakes common to many 3/4 ton pickups of the same vintage. Mike
