What do you guys suggest for a corn head for a 4400 John Deere? I had one bought locally but I found out this morning that the sellers neighbor boy took it to the scrapper..... and yes I am pretty sore about it! Thanks guys Animal

You would need a JD 443 or 444 depending on if you need wide or narrow rows. The JD 443 would be the harder head to find as there where not as many made. The JD 444 should be easy to find. Now the price maybe all over the place. Real clean ones will bring $2500-3000 and worn out ones may only bring a few hundred dollars.

If you are looking for a 443 head you can take a 444 and narrow it down to a 30". Install GVL poly for the snouts. You will have a real good head.

The price on 4 row cornheads has gone up somewhat around here recently. They are being bought up as "organ doners" for newer heads. Price out a row unit gearcase and you will see why.

Talking about those heads reminds me, I watched three 444 heads go for $75 each about 8 years ago. Makes me kick myself when I see them for $1500+ now.

As in paid for? Or only an agreement to buy?
The first means someone is in trouble for stealing the head! The second it wasn't bought yet.

take a 444 head and add a gear box get sheet metal for 30 in and have a five row 30 inch header i did that for mine and run it on a 4400
