Don't see too many of these little units around.

Sweet! Interesting "aerodynamic" styling of the cab rear .....
What size header is this, 12, 14 ft tops??
Ralph in OK.

A neighbor bought a 82 new with a cab,I think it even had factory air conditioning. He grew certified seed on a small farm and took great care of it.It was sold on his sale last year. I do not know what it bought but I hope it did not go to scrap.

Yes, it had a plywood extension that is rotting off. I didn't measure the head but I would think it is about 12' wide. It had a unique sound running in the field when I was a kid.

That thing looks a lot like the combine I cut my teeth on. Darned good bean machine. The book recommended using the variable speed ground drive to stop and go with instead of the clutch since you could slow the variable way down to a stop. The problem came in waiting for the variable speed to slow down to a stop when you wanted to stop NOW. Was kind of grabby getting going from a stop but I never had trouble with it. That 251 Chrysler engine got tired so I replaced it with a 230 out of a pickup but it didn't have near the power. Replaced it with a 105 Deere. BIG difference in capacity. Jim

Where is this Massey sitting and does the owner want to sell it? I would love to get an 82 with a cab to go with my 80.

Have one setting in the shed, its a Massey Harris though.Cut some beans with it in 09".12ft.head,cab,spreader,and "22" cornhead. When I got it,put a new grainpan in it,overhauled the engine, all new belts, some bearings.Hasnt been wet 6 times since 1978.Used to do alot of work with Dad and his 300".Always figured the 82"did 3/4s the work the 300" did,as the 300"seemed to "work" faster. The 82"needs an exhaust manifold now as it is cracked out around no.6 cylinder.

I saw one just like this at a farm sale in the weeds about 15 years ago. It went for a couple hundred and rumor has it the fellow who bought it got it running a few days later and drove it home.

I would be interested in getting it running again, the main thing is how much rust there is. I know it would be a year before I would start to work on it, but at least it would be in line! I had to replace the bottom of the cross auger in the MH 35 this year, and have had to fabricate some other parts. I need to overhaul the engine in the MH 80 so it is ready for wheat in June. I just need to figure out how much it would cost me to get it home. My email is open so let me know your ideas.
