IH 1440 grain head leaks down?

I've got a 1440 with cable hyd. The feeder house leaks down pretty quickly. I know the cyls. could have an internal leak, but is there anything in the control valve that could cause the problem? Maybe related, maybe not, the reel lift and auger swing do not work until you rev it up. Once they work they're OK. TIA, WB<><.

Mine is bleeding down as well, but can see fluid seeping out the seal at the end of the ram on the right side one (as looking at the cab from the header).. tied together hydraulically, so when one leaks, they both give down.

I would suspect internal problems from the control valve, early serial valve 20000 below had a poppet valve part 159380C91 that was prone to leak, it has a nylon molded seat that erodes.

I assume that without the cable attached you still settle. No the cylinders couldn't have internal leakage as they would pass it out the gland. Check the small check valve attached to the rubber hose just behind the nitrogen cylinder. Use a vise grips or hose crimper and try squeezing that line off and see what happens.

If your handy a good service manage can pull the pieces you need and circle where they go on a picture of the valve.

I worked on the valve on a 1660 this summer and that's what was done for me. It was a few o'rings (new parts guy mixed them....), two different sizes of the plastic poppet mentioned above and I also replace one of the armatures that the coils go on.

That one little bitty o'ring was fun and it took me a few minute to sort out the o'rings.

RT (my 2 cents. hope this helps.)
