Gleaner A serial number

I have a Gleaner A with Hercules engine the serial number plate is missing was wondering if the serial is stamped somewhere on the machine? also was curious to know what kind of job these old machines did if they were anygood or had any particuler problems only going to do maybe 10/20 acres a year with it, wheat to feed the chickens. I'll try and look my 1957 A Gleaner over and see if I can find a
stamped serial number anywhere..

I'll look tonite as well, thinking the engine has a plate on it...assuming it is the original one, is there a cross reference somewhere "out there" between combine and engine??
