Picking Time

I finally had a chance to try out my newly purchased 2M-HD. The tractor and picker had sat in the back of a guys shed for the last 30 year. A new condensor, oil change, rebuilt carburator and a battery and she was purring like a kitten. The tires are set out a little too wide so Keith was picking every two rows with his 560 and 234. (This is his corn field)

Nice pictures, that last shot next to the crib is awesome. Never ceases to amaze me what is lying in the back of a shed somewhere, that is a neat setup.

You are right as the M under the 2M-HD has patches under both bull gears! It must have been an old time machinist that fixed it as there is a fitted plate with at least 50 threaded bolts in it with a heavy leather gasket.

Nice outfit. I really like pickers and would collect them if I had enough shed room and tractors to put them on.I have been thinking about putting an IH 234 on my 3020 john deere,I have a 237 deere but it shells to much corn on the ground so for now we use a 300 john deere pull type.

I like the Heider gravity box, it looks to be in very good condition. In the 1960's & 70's I saw a lot of Heider barge boxes and a few Heider auger wagons but not many of their gravity boxes.

Is it on a Westendorf running gear or an IH gear?

Great pics!Nice looking rig,You dont see them like that here in Ga anymore especially in that condition.Thats also a great shot of the corn crib,I saw a picture a couple of years ago of a combine out of Iowa that had one of those style open cribs in the background and I have always wondered what keeps the corn on the outside that gets wet from spoiling. Here in Ga all the old timers always put thier ear corn in a "crib" in the old barns out of the weather.
