Went to look at 2144 today about 750 seperator hours it was very cheaply priced for a combine in the shape it was was there a problem or problems with these machines the asking price was that of a machine in the 1440 range?

If I had to take a blind guess, I'd say your price is low since not many guys want a 6 row combine these days. Too new and too expensive for the weekend warrior and too little for the bto. There are two 2144's running in the neighborhood that appear to be solid machines.

Erik has a good point, depending on the size of farms in your area the 2144 is in between small and big.

Another thing to consider is how much the heads will be on top of that. 6 row corn heads in good shape are NOT cheap in my area.

It's more of a 4 row machine I'd think than a 6 row. I'd be asking about the hydrostat and the motor if it's cheap.

Thanks for the info but went back to look at it again and it was sold they were loading it when we got there.

Live and learn. A 1640 is a much better machine than a 1440 and both can have 6 row heads. You just have to figure out how too keep them moving with the tiny grain tank.
