I had my air conditioning compressor and dryer switched to R134A the first week in September and it had cold air as expected. When I tried using a couple of days ago no cold air was felt. I can see the compressor is not turning when the switch is turned on to "cold" and making sure the heater switch is off. I checked the fuse and it's okay. Where do I want to start next? A new cab switch? Could it be the connection at the compressor? Any assistance is greatly appreciated. |

If it is not low on freon, then jumper wire the compressor and see if the clutch is ok before you get into it much further

If it has Gates hoses, there is a chance that the mold release agent in the hoses reacted with the oil in the r-134, and left a coating on the inside of the evaporator, insulating it and preventing heat transfer. This happened a bunch of times when I worked for Deere in the 90"s when a lot of systems were changed over. We had to flush the systems and recharge them.

Check and make sure your freon didnt leak out. Thats usely the culprit when a compresser wont kick in. You might have a leak somewhere.

I"ll check on the freon in the system; I"d be surprised if it leaked out as I never had a problem with leaks before but there is always a first time. Also, there is a thermal switch and an air conditioning temperature control switch. Could one of these be malfunctioning and needed replaced?
