The contractor uses this small 2 rotor rake on steep hills, and small fields or where the grass crop is very heavy.
 
Watched one of those in the (high mountain)grass of
Gunnison,Co(8000+ alt.).awhile back.Somethging like
that would DESTROY alfalfa.Beautiful pics,Thanks for

Actually they work quite well in alfalfa. I have a 2 rotor Kuhn and really like it. They make a very fluffie windrow so the hay can be raked at a higher moisture to conserve leaves and still dry when raked. In the operator manual, it sayes they are the only rake that the hay dries faster raked than not raked and I would agree. I still have 2 NH 55's and a twin hitch I made much like yours using a rear axel from a 40 JD combine in the late '80's. Since the hay is rolled along the ground, the damper it is, the tighter the windrow. Needless to say it doesn't get used much now.....Ron
