I found something on my 95 combine that I never used till this year, and that is second gear.We usually have corn yields around 200 bu but with the drought the corn on corn is only making60-80 bu so for the first time ever I am shelling corn in second gear. Makes me think about when those machines were new and most yeilds were around 100 bu,I bet the farmers who traded a round back 55 for a new 95 corn special thought the world couldn't get any better.

In 93 I had yields in the 60-70 range and I could actually get the variable speed ground drive darned near full speed in 2nd gear with a 635n head on the 105. Felt like I was flying and I wasn't even hitting 3 MPH. At the time the guys who had 7700's with six row heads couldn't go fast enough to keep the combine full.
Back then good average yields were in the 135-150 range. Jim
