JD 45 raddle chain update (pics)

I rebuilt the sheet metal under the chain last winter and must have adjusted the chain a little to tight. I went by the book but since I backed it off a little more I have not had any more problems. Here are some pictures from this year. I am thinking of looking for a Q-tach feederhouse and 244 head or switching to narrow rows. If any one knows of a feederhouse let me know.

Brings back memories, I had a 45 just like yours even the same aftermarket cab, we did have a 235 cornhead instead of a 234. Nice outfit that I shelled alot of corn with, bought it in 1989 for $800 and did enough custom work the first fall to pay for it.Now we have 2 95 corn specials and a 55 as well. Thanks for posting,I like to see older equipment still working.

If you want 3(30") rows,a 313 head is what you need. But 3 rows is a load for a 45....good lookin outfit!!

First combine I ran was dad's JD 45 hi/lo. No cab, and dad cut down the radiator screen a couple of inches and it would fit in our shed.

Never has a corn head, beans, oats, wheat, and rye. It had rice tires on it, man those were some lugs and the rear thin deep ring. It would go through standing water but the vee belt traction would give out, wheels wouldn't spin. We could stick it in out soft squishy yellow clay tho.

A valve broke in the engine, hammered it's way into the oil pan, dad got it honed and working again, but it drank oil after that wasn't the same, traded it off on my first Gleaner F.

Ah, the memories.
