would eiter of teses 2 machines be worth buying and trying to use i no where one of each is both have grain table and 2 row corn head 45 is in the best shape 45 has no cab both can be bought 800 to 1000 dollars diffrent owners

Both are good machines.55 is bigger/wider than the 45,but only by 4".The 45 uses a 4cyl engine,55 uses a '6'.The 45s tend to be slow,but get great fuel ecomomy.The 55s share some common parts with the 95/105.Cabs are nice.I have run/owned both for years,the 45 is a great little combine.Call me or email me.(970)874-3973.Steve

the 45 with a quick-tach feeder housing and a 244 corn head makes a great setup. where are you located at.

I have both and both do a good job.The 55 likes it's gas alot more. In 120 bu or less corn the 45 is ok but in higher yeilds the 55 has more power and a little more capacity. The late 45's are better than the early ones,to tell the difference look to see if the seperater drive belt is flat or a V-belt(V-belt is newer)The latter machines also use a 180 engine which was also used in 2510 and 2020 tractors. You can add a cab off a parts machine but it must come off a 45 as the 55,95 and 105 use a larger cab.We switched two machines years ago.Where are you located? In the eastern states there are more 45's and the midwest has more 55 and 95 machines. The main factor for me would be the condition of the machine, buy the best one or keep looking there are still a few very good combines of that age around but not like a few years ago as many have went to scrap.
