8820 transmission pump problem

Pump on right side of transmission will not pump oil. Pin is not broke off and pump gears look fine. Can gears be bad and still look good?

I posted an answer up in the tractor talk already. I don't know how to copy that to here so you will have to go look.

Looked it up in manual and the 8820 takes gl-5 which is gear oil. Will check o-rings tomorrow to see if it might be sucking air.

I will not disagree with what the manual says but I remember using Hy-guard. I wonder if it is in a DTAC service bulletin?? I just have the regular manual. Does anyone have the Pink or red shop copy??? They many times have different information in them.

It could very well be the o-rings. I have had issues with them before on other machines. They usually would leak setting.

Also the transmission pump will work if you put the shifter in neutral and then shove the hydro full ahead. I often do this in the mornings while I am letting the combine warm up if it is real cold. This would let you get under it and check for leaks/pressure/problems.

Well I was told that even if the screen didn"t looked plugged that it still could be and even if you can see through it, that it might not let oil flow. So I cleaned the screen, flushed transmission, and replaced all of the o-rings and it works like a champ! Hooray! Thanks for your help.
