I bought a JD 216 platform which has the short drive shafts on the left and right side supported by a bearing near the end of each. I assume it was set up for a hillside combine. The prior owner sent 2 short shafts he used that go between the two platform shafts and the two combine shafts. One has a slip clutch (sickle side). Both have the sprockets you wrap the roller chain over to couple them up. Connecting the platform shaft and these two short shafts in the middle are 4 or 5 inch hex couplers. Anyway the short shafts are too short when trying to attach it to my JD 4420. He had it on a JD 6620. Is a JD 6620 wider where the drive shafts come out of the feederhouse?? Eventually this is going on a JD 6620, but was suprised when it didn't work on my JD 4420. I thought all of the combines and heads were universal of that vintage. Thank you.
