9500 unloading drive shear bolt

Every 30 or so dumps I shear the bolt that drives the unloading auger. Any ideas why? Should I be starting it at full, half or low throttle? Seems to me the way it engages it shouldn"t matter the speed. Also, do people leave the separator running while unloading? Any input is appreciated.

not familiar with the 9500 but unless your unloading on the go slow the engine to engage the auger then speed up to desired speed this greatly reduces the shock loading on the auger drives,check auger flights for wear,if the unload auger is worn to the point that it can't move the grain away from the tank auger fast enough it will cause excess strain on the auger drives,on several makes you can adjust the flow going into the bottom auger inside the tank that will allow you to take some load off the drives

Always engage the auger at low throttle if you are not unloading on the go, check your augers and make sure they are good, or the augers can twist off seen that plenty this year at the shop

I sheared the shaft on a MF 550 in mid unload, flighting on the cross tank auger was worn and not feeding evenly into the vertical auger to the auger arm. Was trying to finish shelling corn before replacing it and made it a much more costly repair than it would have been.

Had that problem on my 9400. It was a bad bearing on the end of the arm or square tube that engages the unload auger. Was easy to replace.
