This is the current Welsh champion ploughman.

The rear of the frame pivots upwards & downwards hydraulically. The rear body is raised when starting ploughing, this allows the front body to enter the furrow and reach working depth quickly. The rear body then is lowered into work.

At the exit of the furrow, the rear body is pushed into the soil as the front of the plough is lifted. This gives almost perfect square starts & ends to the furrows.

The hydraulics also reverse the plough over, slide the plough sideways, and alter the angle of the plough horizontally. All in the aim to create the perfect flat top to the soil, to take up any irregularities in depth and width, straightness, and leave a perfect open furrow with clean cut side to stop soil falling back in.

Even the plough bodies are custom built, they change the shape & length by welding on extra metal to turn over the soil completely and bury every scrap of surface vegetation.

Most Countries in the World have expert ploughmen who compete in the own Country to win that Country's title of Champion Ploughman. These champions then compete against each other for the World Title.

There are several classes & styles of ploughing, each with strict rules and judged by ploughing experts who are themselves ex-champion ploughmen.

Wow, that is quite the contraption. It obviously does a very nice job.

Thanks for posting all the great pictures. It is neat seeing what farming is like in other areas of the world.

Neat.

Would be a useless plow in the real world, cornstalks and such, but I understand it's a very fine tool for it's special use.

So very odd for me to see plowing to the left side of the tractor, that just doesn't happen 'here', there are no turnover plows like that in my part of the USA, we plow in rounds in 2 furrows, not back & forth in the same furrow.
