| Steve I was at a junk yard yesterday and saw a 105 comming in to be junked. The way it was comming in was what cought my eye, The back end was on a big wheel lift wecker and was towed in that way. I talked to the driver and he said he had moved about 30 combines this way and the only thing he dose is hook a chain from the steering axel to the drive axel on both sides for extra suport for towing. Its an idea. Bandit |

| Used my semi tractor for the long haul. Use a 3/4 ton Ford 7.3 diesel otherwise. |

| My combine hauler is a 20'+5' Starlite gooseneck trailer with (2) 7000 lb axles pulled by a Ford F-350 dually..It will haul up to a 10,000 lb combine such as a 55 JD.. I have a 9000 lb Harbor Freight winch which has done all I have ever asked of it and has never let me down..I tested it pretty hard when I loaded a chain drive 123 McCormick that had sat in one place for over 40 years..The secret is to pull a little bit and let it cool down..A hard nonstop pull burns them up.. Depending upon the situation I mostly pull the combine on backwards so I can pull the header off and swivel it around and let it hang off the back some.. I have always been able to get every combine under 13'6" tall including a 123 McCormick and a 55 JD which have been the two tallest combines that I have ever hauled.. |

That would work pretty good if you didn't have a feederhouse on the machine.
If you loaded backwords, then the walkers would be in the way. |
