Fuel consumption on Deere 4400 gas

How much gasoline does a 4400 burn/hour with throttle set at 2500 rpm in typical harvest conditions? Compared to fuel consumption on diesel on a 4400?

We had a 4400 gas when I was young. It was a great combine, but rather thirsty. We did a fair amount of corn with it. We ran a four row head and it handled it well. It seemed like we usually had pretty muddy conditions in the fall. We had oversize rice and cane tires on it, and it got around great in the mud. Under those conditions, I recall filling it with fuel before we went to the field in the morning, and then filling it again at lunch time. My guess would be somewhere north of 8 gallons/hour when working hard. We moved to a 6600 diesel after that and the fuel consumption dropped significantly. That was a few combines ago, but I still have a soft spot for a 4400. Lots of fond memories.

We had a 4400 gas and went to a 6620 diesel 2 years ago.
4400 was very thirsty. All we ever did was fuel it up. I"m not
sure it would go 10 acres in beans without fueling. The fuel
gauge was broke and we ran out of gas way too often. The
6620 can run all day+ in corn.

Get a diesel

The 4400 gas my dad had was very thirsty and seemed to have less power then the 55 round back. If it were my money I would look for a diesel. A 4400 diesel with the corn head and rigid gran platform sold for less than $5000 here recently. It had about 3000 hours on it.

8 gallons per hour is terrible, our 715 IH gas took 4 with a 4r corn head and the 510 MF dsl. that replaced took 2 gallons per hour and would run circles around the 715, deere never was good in the area of fuel economy
