Yes lots went to scrap, but quite a few collectors too.

As near as I can tell around 1516 model 600 IH's were built starting at #501 in 1956 and ending at #2017 in early 1957..36 of them were gas tractors which are very-very rare..It looks like you got a real nice and very rare tractor..

Here is a scan of my original 600 IH sales literature which is probably almost harder to find than the actual tractor..I hunted for this for over 30 years and finally got one from a literature collector in NE in 2009..Needless to say it wasnt cheap..

glad it had collectors, I had posted the auction in implements.... hoping for lots of collectors to give the scrappers a run for their money.
BTW, went to Abilene yesterday passing the scrap yards on the north end of town(hell lotta fog between Altus and Munday) someone drove a MF750 up and was waiting in line at the scale, header behind it on a trailer.... had to look the other way, even though it was not too old.....!
