Number 9 finally made it home!

My ninth 642 Ford finally made it home last night after two years worth of scraping and saving trying to get up enough money for the combine and trucking to get it home from 250 miles away. This one is the one with the Gilcrest 4wd installed right after the combine was bought new.I will post pics soon but the wife has to figure out her new camera to get them on the computer.I hear all the time on here about people getting scammed by bad truckers and thought I would pass along some good info for a great trucking company.Taylor transport(taylortruck.net)hauled mine for me and done an AWESOME job. They are based out of Cartersville Ga but are legal to run 48 states and have the heavy haul equipment to move just about anything. They never asked for a dime of my money until the combine was unloaded at my shop. They were on time to load and done exactly what they said they would do,A real Class act to work with.

Congratulations! Good to know that honest folks arer still out there!
BTW, there's a 642 (?) Ford combine with 12 or 14ft wheat header sitting2 miles from my house in SW OK, been there a while.... let me know if you are interested. I can then inquire about it. Mail's open. Just imagine, you could then post that #10 made it home...!!! LOL
Happy New Year!

Congrats on another 642. By the way, Taylor Transport are my neighbors. Grew up with Ricky the owner. They do have a top notch company, very, very nice equipment.

Preacherman,I know that I have asked you before but please remind me Where you are located? This combine came from Dalton-actually closer to Dawnville half way between Dalton and Chatsworth.I have still got to make another trip up there to get the good parts that are left on a parts combine.

Hey Ralph, Thanks for thinking of me on the 642 but Oklahoma is a little too far to have to pay trucking to get it to central GA.You mentioned number ten-Its funny I found number ten just 38 miles from home over the weekend in a place that I never thought there would be one.The guy wants scrap price for the combine,4 row corn head, and grain head.It is basically complete but it has sat for probably ten years out in the weather. If I keep buying them I am going to have to take a couple of them and make me a shelter to live in because my wife is going to run me out of the house.(not really, she is behind me 100%).

If you stabilize the walkers and put a quality matress on them, it makes a nice bed.... (I should know, too...lol (MF S92s)take care of yourself and the Fords!!

I may try that.I'll bet if I did it in one with a running motor that hum would make for some GOOD sleeping!

All the good "Shedded" ones seem to show up a long ways from central Ga.I still wonder if somewhere there is a practically "Brand New" one stuck in a barn somewhere just wasting away.

Haley, the solution to your distance problem is a 379 Peterbilt with 48' double drop stretch RGN trailer. And the sleeper is very comfortable, at least mine is since the wife threw me out!! 17 Massey tractors and 5 combines......that was the breaking point!!

Good to know, ...if mine is like yours, I have a loooong way to go (lucky me!!) ...LOL
Wonder if I can switch things around... 17 combines and 5 tractors ...hmmm??!!

Haley, I live in Taylorsville, about 10 miles west of Cartersville. This used to be a LARGE farming community then in the 90's folks started raising houses instead of crops. Right now there are only about 3 farmers in the area. Give me a hollar when you come up this way and if I'm not working down in Juliette we'll get together, I'd like to get you and my Dad together, he'll be 82 in april and ran our 642. Ya'll will have a ball.

Preacherman,I will make contact with you in a couple of weeks when I go back up to Dalton.I hate the ATL traffic so I go around on hwy 92 and catch 41 through Cartersville to I 75.Maybe I wont be pushed for time and can meet up with you somewhere.
