4400/4420 hydraulic filter

I think the hydraulic filter on 4400/4420 doesn't cut it, its just like a "sock" filter that sits in the reservoir tank.

Today I was thinking, when I have the corn head on and the front hydraulic hoses are looped together why not put an inline hydraulic filter system on that? Then during corn at least it would properly filter the system. Bad idea?

Unless you have some sort of problem with the OE one in the tank or a contamination issue,I'd change it and leave it where it is.Most older JD combine owners don't even know there's a filter in the reservoir tank and they never have any issues.
