Gleaner 238 corn head

I have a gleaner 238 corn head with the orange frame I am trying to get in working order agin
it has been sitting for around 20 years but was stored pretty well
i have it freeded up but the rollers under the gathering chains (not sure what any of this is called) bind when they go around making the slip clutch on the gear box pop
is seems that one of the bars on the roller is striking a bolt head on the other roller binding it up
it seems to be only hitting on one set of the rollers
there is some play in the rollers
can anyone offer and advice
Thanks

Oh, my aching knees - I've rebuilt 2 rows of my 4-row orange head this fall, which means taking apart the spare head as well as the 'good' head to swap parts.... Mine the big nut on the longer roll up in back keeps working off, no matter what I try, and wears off the threads.

Anyhow, for your problem, is the bolt too long? Someone stuck in whatever was aroud?

Otherwise, the 3 bolts in front holding the front of the roll under the tin - L-shaped pattern - are oblong holes, so you can shift the rolls a bit closer or farther apart. Could help for a minor problem.

I rebuilt my orange 430 years ago- replaced every single bearing except those on the drive shafts. Something like 32 of them. Easier to work on if the head is off the combine, and tipped up with the loader so the points are straight up. Early years I switched rolls in the snow, laying underneath......with no help. Too much to hold in place getting the first bolt started. re your advice to poster- my first thought was the same........wrong bolt installed.

Yup, one head on the combine, donner head held up with the loader or on the old Uni hoist vertical....

The last set of rolls to go, I told wife I'm going to the Gleaner place to get parts.

Came back with a whole head on the trailer, $300 and got a few extra parts that way. ;) It was sitting on the lot a while, too 'stiff' to be put to easy use as is....

She kinda looked at me - 'Get some parts?'

We have the head blocked up so we can crawl under it and work
sounds like standing it up will work alot better
checked the L shape brackets on the rollers they were set close but once opened they let the roller hit the knife that cleans them
looking closer we found one of the rollers has abouit 3/4 inch of play in the end
is that a bearing or a bushing in the rollers on the infeed end and what's the best way to get it out
Thanks
